  2. Satisfactory directing and compelling camera work, memorizing acting. Beautiful and terrifying, breathtaking and atmospheric film about the last days of humanity.
The atmosphere of the film is similar to that described by the Strugatsky brothers in their novel "Far Rainbow", because as it known, writing of it was inspired by Nevil Shute's novel «On the Beach», which served as the basis for the eponymous films by Stanley Cramer (1959) and by Russell Mulcahy (2000).
Action develops slowly, sucking the viewer deeper into the whirlpool of doom, despair, tragedy. Melbourne here - Doomed City, last harbour of the dying, but not yet surrendered people. They have fun, go sailing, taking guests, smash stores. But they are doomed, and the less it is felt in the beginning of the film, the more fully realized the horror of what is happening at the end.
