  1. Didn't like it first time I saw it, but it stayed with me and I kept thinking about it and now I love it. An astonishing and audacious experiment with some wonderfully visionary moments. Some of the dance scenes are maybe a little too long, particularly the one at the end, but an impressive artifice just the same.

    Do people believe that Sokurov really shot the film in one single take, or did he cheat a little? I don't think it matters all that much either way, but I'd be curious to know what people thought. :-)

    p.s. Forget Birdman and all that mainstream rubbish- this is PURE CINEMA!
